It's been a busy weekend and week, mostly with lots of quality time spent with friends. My dear pal Tessa turned 25, and our friends Andrew and Brooke celebrated their engagement! I was officially asked to be a bridesmaid, and I am so excited to stand by Brooke's side (we've been friends for 18 years!) when they tie the knot in December.
Finished This Lullaby! Victory is mine! (Literally powered through it just so I could finally say here that I finished.)
I saw Black Panther on Tuesday and need to see it about a million more times (thank god my MoviePass just got here in the mail). I'm not a huge superhero movie person; I'm not opposed to them, I just don't go out of the way to throw myself into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther was out of the this world. It's totally accessible for non-Marvel fans, but it also made me want to drive home and watch all 17 MCU movies. Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan are perfect; it's got an outstanding supporting cast (I've heard not all Marvel movies do); it's beautiful; the MUSICCCC; and Michael B.'s abs... I loved it. Everyone should see it.
(Also, of course, still mainlining the Olympics.)
To all the teens! The students of Stoneman Douglas high school are incredible. They've been hurt, they are furious, and they are not backing down from the politicians who, for years, have refused to do anything to curb gun violence in this country. Those kids are going to change the world.
Call me crazy, but I could eat kale for days. This week, I sautéed it with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, lemon pepper, and garlic powder and paired it with quinoa, roasted Brussels sprouts & carrots, and feta cheese. It was delicious, and I certainly will be making a combination like this again.
Karaoke rooms, engagement parties, succulents, sleeping with a fluffy blanket under my duvet.
