After some beautiful weather, it's been a gross and rainy week in Durham. I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend (except having elevated blood pressure/heart rate for all of Saturday evening ahead of the Duke game. It's fine I'm fine.)
I finished three books in the past week — To All the Boys I've Loved Before; P.S. I Still Love You; Always and Forever, Lara Jean. They are all by Jenny Han, about a high school student named Lara Jean and her boys, school, sisters. I would read on my phone during down time at work and poof, forty pages were gone! They're light and easy and utterly charming, and I'm kind of sad to be done with them.
NEW QUEER EYE IS SO GOOD! Tan is the MVP, that quilt made me weep. I want to consume it all but don't want to finish it.
Spent the week catching up on two podcasts — Pod Save America and Sens Callups. Pod Save is hosted by 2 or 3 (depending on the day of the week) Obama alum who go over the political news of the week. They're smart and hilarious, and it's one of the only low-stress ways I can consume the news. Sens Callups is a spin off of the first podcast I started listening to — Sens Underground, way back in 2007 (I think?). When SU decided to end, three listeners decided to step up and continue the Ottawa Senators fan podcast tradition. Living in North Carolina, and especially in a season when the Sens are terrible, news about the Senators is hard to come by. These guys keep me in the loop about the team and the league.
Did you know that they're not called "brussel sprouts"? They're Brussels sprouts. My whole life has been a lie. But, either way, I had some fantastic brussies at a restaurant called Persimmons in New Bern over the weekend. We got them as an appetizer and I ordered another round for my main meal; they were so good.
Duke losing to an unranked Virginia Tech team, day trips to New Bern with phenomenal weather, rainbows, crushing a presentation to 200 coworkers.
