Of Note — October 26
These past couple weeks have been BUSY! We celebrated Brooke with a couple of wedding events (bridal shower and bachelorette in Asheville, plus celebrating her and Megan’s birthday); I was home for 24 hours then went back to Asheville for work; I caught up with several friends over FaceTime and meals. It’s been low-key bonkers but high-key fun.
Not much? I still have Little Fires Everywhere downloaded on my Kindle, but the likelihood of me finishing it before the library snatches it back seems slim to none. I’ll hop back on the list for it.
I worked from home one day during the 2-week stretch and watched like 5 episodes of GBBO on Netflix. Netflix is a season behind what’s actually airing live, so everyone in the United Kingdom already knows what happens. But I continue to adore this show. I miss Mary Berry and Mel and Sue, but I love Prue, Noel, and Sandy (I love Sandy Toksvig and have for years). It’s just so cheerful. It will make any day brighter.
I introduced my coworker to Desert Island Discs on our drive home from Asheville! It’s one of my favorite podcasts to share, because the interviews are usually fascinating and most people I know haven’t heard of it. We listened to one episode I had heard before (Bruce Springsteen, a classic) and two that I hadn’t (Christopher Nolan and Hugh Bonneville).
Actually I’m still thinking about what I’m NOT eating. At one restaurant we went to in Asheville, I had my heart set on ordering the mussels. Lo and behold, we go to order and our server informs me that is the one item that they’re out of. HEARTBREAK. So I’m still craving mussels a week later and need to get some soon.
My patterned skirt from Rent the Runway, my sparkly green sweater from Rent the Runway, the entire menu at Lantern in Chapel Hill, Chick-fil-a on roadtrips, soft tacos, red wine, Mateo, the international break being over, Liverpool dominating Champions League matches, church choir rehearsals, football night games, fall weather.
