Of Note — November 2
It’s a fun and celebratory week! Halloween was an absolute blast. I’m usually not the day’s biggest fan, but I really went all in this year and dressed up as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I carried around a stuffed corgi (one of FOUR that I own) and was actually really comfortable in that ballgown (thanks, Rent the Runway!). I voted early on Monday with my brother and we went out to dinner after. And homecoming is this weekend, so I’ll get to see plenty of pals who come to town! So much fun.
I haven’t read a physical book — paper or Kindle — in a month. A MONTH! It’s like 2015 Morgan is back with a vengeance. I feel like I’ve been extra-busy in the last month or so, but reading is important to me so I need to make time for it. I want to get back in the habit of reading before bed, and hopefully the two books I have from the library on my Kindle will inspire me.
My roommate and I waited for the entire third season of Insecure to have aired before we started watching it. We watched the first two SO quickly (I’m talking 16 episodes in 2 days) and didn’t want to have to go seven whole days between episodes. We’re almost done with this most recent season, and it is as fantastic as the first two. Everyone is so beautiful, the writing is so sharp, the music is on point. If this show doesn’t end with Issa getting a record deal and/or becoming famous, I’ll be quite upset.
While I haven’t picked up a book in a while, I have been listening to my first audiobook! Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is on deck for a book club that I am joining (my college friend has one with her grad school friends, and I’m weirdly nervous and excited for it). I honestly think this book is really enhanced by audiobook; the narrator does the English or Scottish accents for all the characters and makes Eleanor’s malicious/manipulative mother sound particularly chilling. The book is slowly revealing things about Eleanor
Out a lot. I was all over the place last week and still never got it together this week to make it to the grocery store. I tried a restaurant across the street from my office that’s newish (in the last month or so), and they had a really tasty Caesar salad — made with kale and quite lemony. I’ll be back for it for sure!
My RTR ballgown, my roommate’s Guy Fieri Halloween costume, corgis, Wicked at 15, Ariana Grande, late dinners at Mateo, Tammy Lee’s last Sunday at Chapel of the Cross (sad but happy at the same time), a spooky Halloween spin playlist.
