Of Note — April 27
We've got ourselves a new royal baby!!! The news that the Duchess of Cambridge was in labor came early Monday morning, and the news of the baby's name came early this morning (Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge, which I have Thoughts on but that's for another time). Both times, I was trying to get out the door/almost at Orangetheory, and both times, I was then almost late to my Orangetheory class because I was so distracted/excited. Priorities.
I finally checked out the sequel to The Thousandth Floor (which I read during kidney-infection-palooza in January) on my Kindle from the library. It's good so far!! I am also reading The Body Book by Cameron Diaz. I bought it a couple of years ago on recommendation from my cousin Jacquie and read about half of it, but it was the summer of 2016 when the world fell apart, so I never finished. I remember texting Jacquie when I read it the first time and being like "This is amazing!! All I want to do now is roast some vegetables and move my body!" I'm just getting into it, but I can feel those urges coming back already.
I worked from home yesterday so that I could spend time with my mom on her birthday and help her with my dad, who conveniently scheduled is cataract surgery for the morning of her birthday. (Nice.) At one point she wanted to go upstairs and relax, so I volunteered to hang out with my dad downstairs. We watched Paddington (he had never seen the first one!) and an episode of David Letterman's new Netflix talkshow, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. Despite finding Letterman grating sometimes, I really enjoyed the show and can't wait to watch the other episodes. We accidentally started with the most recent one (JAY Z) instead of the first (Barack Obama), so I'll go back and start over.
I opened my wayback Wednesday ride this week with "How to Save a Life" by the Fray, and I was reminded of just how good the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack was, especially in the first three seasons (which are the three I watch over and over again). I've been listening to this playlist I made (a compilation of the Grey's seasons 1-3 soundtracks, plus a few favorites those CDs left off) and has me missing Cristina Yang something fierce.
Out for my mom's birthday! We went to lunch at a restaurant called Gonza Tacos y Tequila. They have several locations in the Triangle and I've heard fantastic things, but I'd never actually been. We each got a margarita and split chips & queso, fajitas, and tamales; I loved all of it. There's a Gonza right by the apartment that my sister and Corey want to move to in Durham, so hopefully I'll be spending lots of time there in the future!
My sister (and brother-in-law) living in North Carolina again (!!!), Princess Charlotte's A+ wave game, game night with the girls, killing it on a few really big work things, winning 5-2 in the Champions League, spring nights at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, buying flowers for myself, chicken minis.
