Of Note — June 22
What a week it's been! Two of my best friends had a birthday this week, I got this dress from Rent the Runway Unlimited that I picked out specifically because it made me feel like Meghan Markle, and oh yeah ONE OF MY PALS GOT ENGAGED! I'd guessed it would happen in August, so it came as such a surprise on Sunday when Vaughn texted me to tell me. We got to celebrate with her and Ben on Sunday night, and every time I stumble upon the pictures on my phone, I get giddy all over again.
On Wednesday night I finished The Financial Diet by Chelsea Fagan. I have been a casual reader of the TFD blog for a couple of years, so I was excited to borrow the book when I saw it on my friend Chelsey's shelf. A lot of the information felt like common sense (which hopefully means I'm doing the right and responsible things with my money right now), but I did pick up a few new tips. I am still working on Citizen of the World, My Oxford Year, and The Body Book.
I finally saw Ocean's 8 and Incredibles 2! And by "finally" I mean "literally one week after they came out and that was one week too long for me to wait." They were both fun and funny. No heist will ever top Ocean's 11 for me, but I thought 8 was a good spin on it, and I hope they'll be doing 9 and 10. I thought Incredibles 2 was totally hilarious, and it was worth the 14 year wait. I bought a ticket to both of them, which means I can still go back and see them again for free with my MoviePass — absolutely doing that sometime soon.
Basically the only thing I've watched besides Incredibles is the World Cup. Along with that viewing comes with the accompanying podcasts I listen to that are recapping the tournament. Here I'll plug Men in Blazers and the Ringer FC — both of which I listen to and love during the whole year, but they've really upped the content for the month of the World Cup. I appreciate that!
At the end of the bred aisle at Trader Joe's, they usually put a few items on display together to suggest a meal. This week it was lemon pepper pappardelle pasta, white albacore canned tuna, and capers. I bought them all, whipped up the pasta on Monday night, and absolutely loved it. I'm going to go back and buy like a million more packages of pasta to keep in the pantry. So easy and so delicious!
Brainstorming for upcoming trips, Bobby Firmino's smile, the Three Lions, fresh peonies, mango sorbet, celebrating dear pals on their birthdays, celebrating dear pals and their ENGAGEMENT, opening a new (high-yield!) savings account, group chats about the Bachelorette, getting hair washed at the salon, Nutella.
