Of Note — August 17
It’s been a crazy busy but really fun week — many birthday celebrations, saying see you later (not goodbye) to a friend who is moving, productive work meetings. My room is a mess, but I’ve been too busy running around with pals to clean it. Not the worst trade off!
I’m finally off the Kindle waitlist and am reading The Hopefuls. It’s a novel about a young married couple; the husband worked on the 2008 Obama campaign, and they move to DC when he gets a job in the administration. It’s told from the wife’s perspective, and so far it’s spot-on with how annoying campaign people can be when we’re together (I say as a campaign person). I think I’m going to love this one.
So I saw Mamma Mia a fourth time. SO WHAT!? It’s beautiful and hilarious and so cheesy and so heartwarming. Honestly, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried should be cutting me a check at this point.
I recently started listening to another soccer podcast (as if I really have the bandwidth for it, yikes) called The Total Soccer Show. I’ve been enjoying their Premier League season preview episodes; they’re doing four 90(ish) minute episodes that cover 5 teams (done in alphabetical order). This year I’m playing fantasy football (soccer), so I appreciate learning more about the rest of the league and getting a full run down on every time. I enjoy their analysis and will be adding their episodes into the pod rotation.
I have been spoiled with birthday celebrations over the past week. Last Friday I went out with my family to dinner at Caffé Luna (Italian, obviously) in downtown Raleigh. On Saturday a group of friends went out to Juju (Asian tapas, less obviously) in Durham. I am a very loved, lucky, and full girl!!
My palm leaf Rent the Runway skirt, giant water slides, the return of the Premier League, flowers, velvet scrunchies, Domino’s pizza, flamingos, my cosmic Kindle case, a new yellow phone case.
