Last weekend was a truly great way to kick off summer! So much water time — Saturday at the pool, Sunday at the lake, Monday at the river. I saw lots of wonderful friends and ate lots of wonderful food. I’m looking forward to the next couple of months and all the sunshine and fun it will bring.

Currently reading
I’m currently working on a book called Bring the Noise: The Jürgen Klopp Story. I thought I couldn’t love our affable gaffer anymore — TURNS OUT I WAS WRONG! And I’m not even halfway through the book! I won’t finish it before the Champions League final tomorrow, but it’s made for really lovely reading leading up to such an important match.

Currently watching
If you read last week’s post and thought, “Morgan, how many times have you watched the Downton Abbey trailer? There’s no way you won’t start watching the show again.” Well reader — you’d be right. And I’ve watched a season and a half in a week. It’s FINE I’m FINE. We’re almost at the season 2 Christmas special and then I may have to call it quits before the trauma that is season 3.

Currently listening
I had to go to Asheville on Tuesday for work (a very quick day trip with our photographer to capture pictures for a story I’m working on). On the way back we listened to Disney. It just brought me so much joy! And it was so fun to chat with Jeyhoun about our Disney movie opinions (Hercules is the most underrated Disney movie, pass it on) and delve into childhood memories of the movies and our thoughts on characters. We got back really late but the drive seemed to fly by thanks to Walt, Mickey, and company.

Currently eating
I made what I would consider to be a pretty impressive cake for Memorial Day! I was going to try to make Ina Garten’s flag cake and for some reason, it never occurred to me that she would want me to actually bake a cake. From scratch. LOL YEAH RIGHT INA! But our girl is always supportive of store-bought substitutes, so I just did that with…basically the whole recipe. Mine was funfetti with vanilla icing (not all that special) but then I decorated it to look like an American flag. I’m honestly thrilled with how it turned out. Am I the Barefoot Contessa now?!?

Bojangles, stalking acquaintances’ weddings on Instagram (they were so pretty!!!), cinnamon rolls, boat rides, summer freckles, heart sunglasses, 5 Below floats, Harris Teeter subs, floating on Haw River, my best friends, Chili’s, the new Lion King movie posters, sending birthday cards.
