Of Note — August 16
Well I’ve been 26 for one whole week, and it’s been a pretty great week so far. I was very lovingly celebrated by friends and fam all last weekend, and I consider myself such a lucky gal for all the people in my life who made it so special.
It’s full steam ahead on the Throne of Glass train. I stayed up until 4am on Saturday to finish the fourth book, Queen of Shadows, and I finished the fifth one, Empire of Storms, on Thursday morning. I’ve skipped my morning workout 4/5 days this week so that I could lay in bed and read — I’m THAT obsessed with these books.
Same as last week — not much! The one episode of Four Weddings and a Funeral, and besides that I’m basically just reading. But tonight Haley and I are going to see the new movie Blinded by the Light about a Pakistani British boy who and how he’s inspired by Bruce Springsteen in the late 80’s. Absolutely cannot WAIT!
JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!! I went to their concert on Wednesday night with Tessa and Brooke, and I swear it was one of the best shows I have ever been to. They were SO great, and we had so much fun singing and dancing. Sophie Turner was there!!! I can’t believe she came to their Raleigh show. I spent like half the night staring at her across PNC Arena. I can’t stop listening to this playlist I made of their set list (“Mandy” through “Hold On” were done as a medley and “Shelf” and “Gotta Find You” were the fan requests, FYI).
I made a tasty salmon bowl this week based on this recipe from Dinner: A Love Story. I just used red wine vinegar and salt as a dressing (there was enough EVOO left from when I roasted the potatoes — teeny ones, not regular-sized ones — instead of boiling them). I left out tomatoes (didn’t love the ones I bought) and cilantro (forgot, but will probably add to leftovers this weekend). I added radishes and just used corn from a can because there were no ears of corn left at TJ’s. So I really took inspiration from Ina and used whatever I could to make this delicious meal. I had four servings of it and can’t wait to do it again.
Sophie Turner, Jonas Brothers, great phone conversations, flash tattoos, Neapolitan ice cream, The Crown season 3 premiere date announced, Liverpool winning the Super Cup, Rowan and Aelin (again/still), library books on the Kindle, summer rainstorms.
