Of Note — August 2
I am en route to Asheville for a college pal’s wedding, and I can’t wait for a mini-reunion that’s about to unfold. I’ve never been to a Friday wedding before, but I think it will be really nice to have a whole day in Asheville to hang out with pals (recover from the wedding) before making the drive home.
I am absolutely obsessed with Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland. It’s a nonfiction book about the Troubles in Northern Ireland, and it’s written in a totally gripping way. I can’t put it down and am so excited to keep reading it this weekend.
On Wednesday, Hulu dropped the first four episodes of Mindy Kaling’s Four Weddings and a Funeral adaptation. It is…okay? I’m a little disappointed in the rom-com writing in the first couple of episodes, in part because I know that Mindy is a way better writer than that. But episodes 3 and 4 are so wonderful. They feature the funeral, and Zoe Boyle (known only to me as Lavinia Swire from Downton Abbey, AKA the woman who stood in the way of Mary and Matthew being together until she died of Spanish flu) is perfect in them. So I sort of recommend the show? I’m definitely going to keep watching.
My fun driving-to-Asheville playlist has everything from The Beatles to Chance the Rapper and will keep us entertained for the whole drive (three and a half hours) plus driving around town on Saturday.
I was a fool and took no pictures of it, but I made a delicious pasta last week that I’m already excited to make again. It was Banza spaghetti (made from chickpeas and chock full of protein), kale, lots of minced garlic, parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and Trader Joe's langostino tails (which are sort of like lobster, I guess?). Yum yum yum.
My roommate, cute rosé bottles, finishing my final project for my online class, GBBO, Pride and Prejudice on audiobook, the Pride and Prejudice score, poké bowls, themed cycle classes, Chinese takeout.
