Of Note — August 30
I’ve fallen out of my routine over the last couple weeks, and it’s got me feeling a little off-kilter. I need to get back to working out and cooking regularly so I can feel like myself. But a WONDERFUL thing happened in the last couple weeks — I finally got to meet my new friends’ baby. I’ve known Hunter and Mary Lee since middle school, and they’re my first friends with a baby. It is completely wild to see them and the little human they’re responsible for. I love their little family so much and am so happy to have spent a weekend with them.
I finished the sixth Throne of Glass novel (Tower of Dawn) since my last post, and I’m going to finish the final book, Kingdom of Ash, this weekend. I stayed up until 3am on Wednesday night and 2am last night reading, but now I’m trying to pace myself to make sure I’ll be in exactly the right space to complete the series. I love it so, so much, and I’m so sad that it’s ending. The hardback box set is on sale for about 50% off on Amazon, so you better believe that’s coming home to me soon.
Nothing new — So You Think You Can Dance, the new episode of Four Weddings and a Funeral, and reruns of Great British Bake Off. I’m excited for the new GBBO to drop today but pretty wary of Netflix presenting it week-by-week. It’ll be odd to not binge the show! As evidenced by the fact that I’ve read about 3,000 pages in the month of August, I’m not watching too much lately.
Lover! Lover! Lover! Taylor Swift’s seventh album was out last Friday, and I absolutely LOVE it. I walked into the office last Friday with my headphones in while listening to it, and my coworker waved at me and said, “You can take your headphones out; we’re playing it out loud.” No context, no questions asked. We just knew what the vibe was this morning haha. I’ve been very happy to have some long drives to listen to it, and I’m regretting scheduling my Taylor Swift theme ride for the end of September.
I made a very tasty pasta this week! Banza chickpea shells, Trader Joe’s Tuscan kale, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, lemon juice, and parmesan cheese. Pretty simple and pretty delicious.
Henry, sweater weather (even if temporary), fresh flowers, red wine, Aelin and Rowan, cheesecake, paint samples as bookmarks, Trader Joe’s chicken soup dumplings, Shanghai Dumpling, brie, mountain drives, chai, finding missing earrings, machos, Millie the cat, airpods.
