Of Note — August 9
Happy birthday to ME! I turn 26 today, and I’m excited for a fun weekend of celebrating with family and friends. I have a weird personality quirk where I hate numbers that are divisible by 5 (don’t ask me why because I’m not entirely sure), so I am pretty stoked to not be 25 any more. I also had a blast at my friends’ wedding in Asheville last weekend, so Leo season is really just magic all around thus far.
I’m halfway through Queen of Shadows, the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series. Y’all this book is GOOD. The last one started a little slow and turned out to be super hype at the end. This one is incredible already; one of my best friends who also loves the books says that the fourth and fifth ones are the best. I don’t have many birthday plans tomorrow, so I will be spending a lot of my day reading.
Honestly I’ve been doing a ton of reading and not watching that much TV. Still on that constant GBBO watch, enjoying Mindy Kaling’s Four Weddings and a Funeral (it’s all gone uphill since the first episode), and putting Friends on in the background.
I realized I never talked about how great Chance the Rapper’s new album is. It’s technically his first album (everything else thus far was just a mixtape), and it’s so great. I don’t really get the skit tracks so I’ve been skipping them. But besides that, I love it all. I think “Do You Remember” might be my favorite song on the album (it made me cry in the Target parking lot WHOOPS) but I also love, predictably, “We Go High.”
Last weekend while in Asheville we went to a restaurant called Sunny Point Cafe, and it was absolutely delightful. The food and drinks were good, but I really want to call out our server. Conway was hilarious, attentive, had a literal rainbow of colored pens, and took care of our hungover post-wedding group. One of my 101 things is to leave a 100% tip for good service, and Conway was my man.
Flamingo balloons, rainbow balloons, rooftop weddings, new pajamas, people who love my friends, kittens, Rowan calling Aelin “Fireheart,” Huji, wonderful coworkers, Instax cameras, free peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s, pretty braids, wedding toasts, sitting outdoors at breweries, chicken minis.
